A surefire way to get your kids speaking a second language? Incorporate it into their everyday lives. That’s the appeal of Conmigo Playgroup, a 12-week Spanish program that’s set to launch the first week in January.
Created by early childhood educator (and Philly mom) Jessica Downes, the program aims to use a child’s normal play environment to foster the new language, so you can expect some free play, where Spanish is the only language spoken, then a 10-minute lesson on the theme of that day (think: colors, greetings, foods) using things like songs and visual demos, an activity that reinforces that lesson (like an art project), then a goodbye routine.
