Summer’s officially half done (sigh), but even after all the Welcome America hoopla, this city is still jam-packed with outdoor movie nights for the next couple of months, which is awesome. (It’s one of the best parts about a Philly summer, don’t you think?) Here, a snapshot of great, easy places to catch a flick — for free, with or without the kids — under the stars.

Where: The Schuylkill Banks, at a couple locations along the river. There’s FREE films at the Walnut Street Bridge and Grays Ferry Crescent (at the Esplanade). (If you get there early enough, there’s even free snacks!)
When: Thursday nights, through August 10.
What you can see: Finding Dory, Ratatouille, Jaws, Hidden Figures ... among others.

Where: The Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing
When: Thursday nights, through August 31
What you can see: Star Wars: Rogue One; LaLa Land; Beauty and the Beast; The Lego Batman Movie … to name a few.

Where: Various and sundry neighborhood parks all over the city
When: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through October (!)
What you can see: All kinds of family-friendly movies: Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Sing, The Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon, The Secret Life of Pets, and more. Check the Parks and Rec site for details!

Where: Eakins Oval, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art
When: Friday nights (if tradition stands)
What you can see: Well … for now, all that’s planned is Clueless on July 21. But they also plan and release info a bit later than others. Keep checking the E.O. site for the latest updates.

Where: Franklin Square
When: Select Saturdays in July and August
What you can see:  Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (which corresponds with one of the weekends Parks on Tap is at Franklin Square), Lego Batman, and Finding Dory (which corresponds with the second Parks on Tap weekend). Plus: Games and pre-show activities for families start at 7 p.m. — the shows start at 8:30. 

Where: Dilworth Park
When: Friday nights, through August 25.
What you can see: Beauty and the Beast, Jurassic World, Trainwreck (um, don’t take the kids), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them … among others.

Where: Schmidt’s Commons

What you can see:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Horton Hears a Who, The Christmas Story 

Where: The Dell Music Center
When: A couple Tuesday nights in August
What you can see: Sing and Moana

What you can see: It’s The Secret Life of Pets for the July 14 showing, with more TBA. And if you get there an hour before the 8/8:30 showtime at 7/7:30 p.m., you and the fam get a free twilight tour of the garden.

Where: Clark Park
When: Friday nights from August 1 to September 4
