There’s no milestone quite like a toddler’s first dance class … and not just because tiny children learning to plie makes such adorable Instagram fodder. The first dance class can lay a foundation for a lifelong love of movement and music — and the new preschool dance classes at The Rock School for Dance Education are specially designed by professional dancers and teachers for first-time dancers ages 2 to 5 years old.
The Saturday morning classes are action-packed, high-energy, fun sessions with the school’s beloved Miss Molly, who focuses on teaching independence, cooperation, coordination, and — of course — lots and lots of dance movement. The kids take the class by themselves (yay!), and afterward, parents and caregivers join their little ones at the school cafe, where Miss Molly leads a storytime.
“We love watching your children giggle, build friendships and grow a heart for dance,” says Stephanie Spassoff, the Rock School’s artistic director. “It’s never too late or too early to dance!”
